Microsoft 365 Applications Training


The Institute of Computer Science offers MU employees and students free training on selected Microsoft 365 tools. These trainings are suitable for both beginners and advanced users. The content of the training is adapted to the participants based on the previous agreement and the topic discussed.

Practical Information

  • The ideal size of the training group is 10–20 participants.
  • The training is always adapted to its target group (employees, researchers, students, …)
  • The duration of a training session is about 90–120 minutes (the training itself + questions).
  • The training sessions are held in the University Computer Centre (CPS), or you can provide your own room with PCs or a room with the possibility to work with your own devices (laptops). If preferred, the training session can also be organised online via MS Teams.

Microsoft Teams

    • Orientation in teams and channels.

  • Working with a team calendar:
    • Creating team events.
    • Instant video meetings.
  • Video call description and setup:

    • Working efficiently while on a call:
      • Muting the microphones, turning of the camera.
      • Screen sharing, chatting with other participants.
  • Working in a team and communicating in channels:
    • What is a team (owners and members).
    • Types of channels and conversation options.
    • Working with team documents.
  • Connecting with other Microsoft 365 tools:
    • OneNote, Planner, Loop components etc.
  • Further focus according to the participants:
    • Project administration, teaching in Teams etc.

Microsoft Outlook

      • Setting up mail rules.
  • Calendars:
    • Setting up and planning meetings.
    • Sharing calendar and permission settings.

Team Collaboration

  • M365 groups and teams in MS Teams:
    • Differences between M365 groups and teams.
  • Creating M365 groups or teams:
    • Adding members and their permissions.
    • Connecting additional applications with the group:

    • How to work with a team inbox?
    • Working with e-mail categories.

Working with Documents

Duration: 90–120 minutes
Content: Document libraries in OneDrive and M365 groups:
  • How to upload documents to the cloud?
    • Web interface.
    • OneDrive desktop application.
    • Uploading through MS Teams or Outlook.
  • How to sync documents with a PC?
    • Automatic synchronization .
    • SharePoint documents synchronization.
    • Adding a shortcut to OneDrive.
  • Sharing and collaborating on documents:
    • Automatic saving and versioning.
    • Managing access to documents.
    • Real time collaboration.

Working with tasks in Microsoft 365

Difficulty: 3 / 5
Duration: 90–120 minutes
Content:

Management of own and team tasks in the M365 interface:

  • Microsoft To Do (general information, logging in, user interface, creating new tasks and working with a created task).
  • Microsoft Planner (general information, creating a new task, working with task cards, various options of displaying taks, sorting and ordering).
  • Creating tasks from e-mails in Outlook (assigning a flag, displaying in Microsoft To Do and task processing).
  • Further options of managing and creating tasks (from MS OneNote, MS Loop components, MS Office documents comments).

Additional training typically conducted in the form of webinars

Due to their shorter length (up to 60 minutes including time for questions and answers from participants) and the nature of their content, these trainings are usually conducted as webinars via MS Teams:

  • Microsoft Copilot (formerly Bing Chat Enterprise):
    • Where to find Microsoft Copilot and how to run it.
    • Protection commercial data at Masaryk University.
    • How to properly formulate promts for AI.
    • Examples of using generative AI in practice.
  • Microsoft Forms (working with questionnaires and quizzes):
    • General information (practical demonstration of the user environment).
    • Differences between forms and quizzes.
    • Forms under a work account vs. under a shared M365 group accounts.
    • Sharing forms and collecting feedback (sharing via link, Teams, embedding on web page).
  • Microsoft Whiteboard (collaborative electronic whiteboard):
    • General information (practical demonstration of the user environment).
    • Possibilities of using Whiteboard in teaching and in work teams.
  • Microsoft Bookings and Bookings with me (creating booking calendars):
    • Creating personal booking calendars (e.g. consultation office hours for teachers).
    • Creating team booking calendars (e.g. for consultations and counselling – the whole team).
