A notification about new senders has been added to MS Outlook

25 Oct 2023

Hello, dear colleagues,

From tomorrow (24/10) there will be a new feature in MS Outlook in the form of notifications of new senders. So, if you receive a message from a sender with whom you're in contact for the first time, or if you only exchange messages once in a while, you'll see the following information in the body of the email:

You don't get emails from napriklad@email.com very often.

This measure mainly contributes to protecting users from phishing. If an attacker is trying to spoof the address from which you usually receive mail, the aforementioned warning will appear. For example, if you normally communicate with the faculty secretary, but suddenly you receive an email from TAJEMN1K@FAKULTA.MUNI.CZ address (where you may not notice the letter mix-up), the above warning will alert you that something is wrong and it may be a phishing attack.
