Instructions: Connecting to the eduroam network by cable

Ensure that your computer is running the automatic wired network configuration service (“Wired AutoConfig”)
In the start menu, click on the magnifying glass to open the search box. Type „Správa počítače“ (“Computer Management”) into the search box. In the newly displayed window, click on the item „Služby a aplikace“ (“Services and Applications”) and in the next menu click on „Služby“ (“Services”) and select “Wired AutoConfig Service”. Right-click on this item and select „Vlastnosti“ (“Properties”).

In the new window, set the startup type to Automatický (Automatic). In this window, start the service with the button Spustit (Start ) (if it is not running already).
Using OK, close the dialogue Vlastnosti (Properties).

Now it’s necessary to switch on the authentication of the network connection using the 802.1X PEAP method, similarly to wireless eduroam.
Right-click on the network connection icon (bottom right, next to the clock). Click on Otevřít nastavení síť a internet (Open network and internet settings) (sometimes also "Otevřít cetrum síťových připojení a sdílení” (“Open Network and Sharing Centre”). In the window on the right, select the item Změnit nastavení adaptéru (Change the adapter settings).

Right-click onSíťový adaptér pro připojení kabelem(Network adapter for cable connection) (sometimes also called “Ethernet”) and selectVlastnosti(Properties).

In the next dialogue, click on the card Ověřování (Authentication). Check the box Povolit ověřování podle standardu IEEE 802.1X (Enable IEEE 802.1X authentication), in “Zvolte metodu ověřování v síti:” (“Choose network authentication method:”) select Microsoft: Protokol PEAP (Protected EAP), click on the Nastavení (Settings) button.

Check the box Ověřit certifikát serveru (Verify the server certificate). Also check Připojit k těmto serverům: ( Connect to these servers: ) and write into the form:
radius1.muni.cz;radius2.muni.cz. In the Trusted Root Authorities window (Důvěryhodné kořenové certifikační autority), check the box DigiCert Assured ID Root CA.
In the section titled Vyberte metodu ověřování select Zabezpečené heslo (EAP-MSCHAP v2) and click on Konfigurovat (Configure).

Here, uncheck the box Automaticky použít mé uživatelské jméno a heslo (a doménu, pokud existuje) pro přihlášení k systému Windows. Click on OK to confirm.
Confirm everything else with the OK button.

Plug in your computer and log in when the login form appears.
