Instructions: Manual eduVPN Configuration on Android

Wireguard

Install the Wireguard app from the Play Store.

Open the installed Wireguard app and click on the + symbol in the bottom right corner.

Select the option Scan from QR code.

Scan the QR code generated in the eduVPN portal and then name this new configuration. To get the configuration QR code, follow the linked instructions.

Clicking the switch next to the configuration name activates or deactivates the VPN connection.

On most modern Android devices, there should allow be a dedicated icon in the quick menu.

OpenVPN

Install the OpenVPN app from the Play Store.

We recommend generating the configuration file on the eduVPN portal directly from your mobile phone. In this case, the configuration file will be downloaded directly to the mobile device, eliminating the process of moving the file between devices. To generate the configuration file, follow the linked instructions.

If you generated the configuration file on another device, you must first move it to your mobile device

Open the installed OpenVPN and agree to the privacy statement.

Move to the Upload File section and there click the Browse button.

Search and select the desired configuration file.

Click on the Connect button.

Allow the OpenVPN app to set up a VPN connection and click OK.

The connection has been set up. Use the green switch to activate or deactiate it. Below are connection information

Please only use the VPN connection for as long as necessary.

Having trouble connecting?
If you can't connect, see the list of common problems. Also remember to set up your firewall correctly to allow VPN connections, i.e. UDP port 443 and TCP port 443.
