MUNI Connection from Home (eduVPN)

Instructions: Connecting to eduVPN on macOS

1
Install the official eduVPN app from the Apple App Store.

2
Open the installed app, then look up and choose Masaryk University.

3
The app will redirect you to the university Unified Login (id.muni.cz), where you log in using you UČO and primary password.

4
After successfully logging in, you will be redirected to the eduVPN portal (eduvpn.muni.cz), where you need to give approval using the Approve button.

5
Go back to the eduVPN app, where by clicking the added Masaryk University institution you will be redirected to a screen with available profiles. Choose one of them.

The screen with profiles selection on the picture may not be shown to users with only one available profile, as it is chosen automatically.

6
The VPN connection can be activated and deactivated by clicking the switch.

7
It is neccessary to approve adding a new VPN configuration.

8
Decide whether you want to be notified about the login expiring. It is valid by default for 5 months. This setting can be changed later in advanced options.

In the bottom under the Connection info tab, you can find information about the current connection.

If you need to use eduVPN only through TCP, go to the settings by clicking the gear icon in the upper right and there check the Prefer TCP connection option. To apply changes switch your profile off and back on.

You can change the VPN configuration expiration notification settings by selecting the Notify when the session is about to expire check box. If the box is checked, the VPN configuration expiration notification will be displayed 1 hour before the expiration.

You can also check Start on sign-on, to activate VPN connection with starting up the computer.

Please only use the VPN connection for as long as necessary.

Having trouble connecting?
If you can't connect, see the list of common problems. Also remember to set up your firewall correctly to allow VPN connections, i.e. UDP port 443 and TCP port 443.
