MUNI Software Licenses

University offers various programs for study and work use for its students and staff. Some programs can be installed on your personal computer; others can work only on MU computers. In addition to the programs themselves, discount pricing for other software is sometimes included in the license.

University Licenses for Students and Employees

Employees and students may obtain a license for selected software with installation packages for personal and home use. In these cases, the license may be obtained after the licensing conditions have been agreed in the INET information system.

Types of License Programs

• Unlimited Multi-licensing: All employees and students may use it. These licenses can usually be installed also on a home computer. These include, for example, application packages in a field of statistics as IBM SPSS Statistics and Statistica.
• Centralized Shopping: Purchases of licenses at discounted prices centralized for the entire university. These include, for example, the purchase of Microsoft Software Products.
• Floating Licenses: It means that software can be installed in any quantity. Limited is only the number of instances running at the same time, which is monitored by the license server located on the network. These include, for example, applications from a field of mathematics (Matlab and Maple).
• Discount Programs: It depends on the volume of purchases. For example, Total Commander may be bought at a discount.
