The fourth annual conference will offer a current perspective on how new technologies are changing the face of higher education. The program will feature a panel discussion with students about their perceptions of AI, as well as teachers sharing their specific experiences with using AI in the classroom.
The conference will also include a panel debate on the development of teachers' digital skills and inspiring examples of unconventional uses of LMS Moodle. There will also be demonstrations of good practice with Apple technologies, the opportunity to try out XR headsets, a presentation of the automatic course report service, and practical templates for ELF that will facilitate the creation of e-learning.
We will add details about the program here soon!
Daniela Ryšavá (KISK), Pavel Matail (Filozofie), Stanislav Červenka (ÚPV), doc. Mgr. Tomáš Kačer, Ph.D. (Katedra anglistiky a amerikanistiky).
Teaching large courses – if it is to be of high quality – is extremely demanding in terms of interactivity, working with experience, and individualizing education. One way to support this can be the creation of short, non-linear multimedia stories, which can be used as a basis for reflection and work during the lesson. This contribution attempts to indicate how various types of AI can (or cannot) help in their design and development and seeks its place in the development of such educational resources. The contribution will share experiences with testing a range of tools, dead ends, and perhaps even productive solutions.
The contribution will present experiences with the innovation of a course focused on an introduction to academic writing, in which generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) is used as a tool for providing continuous feedback on student work. The innovation of the course responds to the need to ensure consistent, frequent, and high-quality feedback with a large number of students and limited staff capacity. The presentation will show how we use GenAI as an aid in formative assessment and the development of skills needed for writing academic texts. The presentation will also include a brief introduction to the technical solution and a summary of the first experiences from pilot testing among students.
We will present three chatbots developed at the Institute of Czech Literature in collaboration with colleagues from FI: Umberta as an assistant for the creation of student academic texts, Ámoska with a didactic focus, and a currently unnamed assistant (working title: Ten/ta třetí) helping with the preparation of reader discussions. We will share our experiences, challenges, and plans for the future.
