Planned outages of Medial and ELF systems in July and August
At the end of July and the beginning of August, regular maintenance of the systems will take place, which will require their shutdown and temporary unavailability.
In the coming months, we will be in the process of migrating to Windows 11 on all faculty computers. If any of your office computers do not meet the requirements to install Windows 11, you will need to purchase new equipment by that date.
If you already know you are using a device that does not already have Windows 11 installed, please back up the data you need (or delete the data you don't need). For a list of storage available at MU, please visit the Data Storage page.
The exact date when Windows 10 will not be available on the campus network depends on several factors:
Preparatory phase
Collecting information about individual facilities at given FF MU workplaces.
Sending out information about the compatibility of individual computers - this implies the need for the workplace to replace the computers with new ones or stop using them from 1 October 2025 or 1 January 2026.
Sending out a booking calendar for individual workplaces - in this calendar you choose the date (approximately from mid-June to the end of August).
You must purchase new equipment by the deadline (if your existing equipment does not meet the requirements for installing Windows 11). This purchase is done by the department itself, if unclear, the department may consult with CIT FF.
If you have an appointment, you must bring your portable device to your workplace every day for a week before the appointment and connect it to power and internet (via cable or WiFi). Your device must be connected to the internet and power source for at least 5 hours each day so that you can work remotely on your devices. However, you can still work on the devices during this time, they just need to be connected continuously.
Implementation
On the selected date, a group of computers will always be reinstalled on Windows 11, which will be marked in advance by a CIT staff member (the device will receive a sign informing that the computer will be reinstalled). The computer will be tagged during the reinstallation - please do not work on computers so tagged. This does not apply to computers that already have Windows 11 installed.
By the end of the first week, all devices, including laptops, should be reinstalled. The following week will be used for debugging deficiencies, repairing devices, etc.
The process is at an end.
Please note: You must have purchased devices to replace those that do not support Windows 11 by the reserved date.
At the end of July and the beginning of August, regular maintenance of the systems will take place, which will require their shutdown and temporary unavailability.
On Wednesday, 28 May 2025, another in a series of Teaching Tips meetings took place.
