Access content smartly: Conditional activities as your silent assistant

Do you work with ELF on a regular basis but haven’t yet used Conditional Activities? Then you're missing out on a powerful tool that makes it easier for students to navigate your course and boosts their engagement with the learning experience. This feature allows you to decide exactly when and to whom each section of the course becomes available.

With it, you can easily:

  • guide students through the course in the correct order,
  • make the next assignment or quiz available only after the previous activity has been completed,
  • encourage continuous work and prevent last-minute “cramming” before the exam,
  • automate the tracking of completion—no manual supervision required.

With just a few simple settings, you can control when students see the next activity—based on their prior work, results, specific dates, or even allow them to manually mark an activity as complete. No more manual checks—the system handles it for you.

What can you base activity availability on?

  • Completion of another activity (e.g. a test or assignment),
  • achieving a specific grade or score,
  • simply viewing the material,
  • meeting a deadline or a combination of multiple conditions,
  • or even manual approval by the student.

This creates a structured course that adapts to students' actual progress—giving you control without additional administrative burden.

How to get started?

Detailed instructions in English, including screenshots and examples, are available on the Conditional Activities page at: moodledocs.phil.muni.cz (Czech only)
