DeepL Translator
DeepL Translator is a machine translation service based on artificial neural networks that enables the translation of entire documents while preserving their formatting. It currently offers translations into 31 languages. DeepL is available for employees in the MU Portal.
- It translates entire large documents. There is no minimum document length, but we recommend translating documents of at least a few pages.
- Preserves formatting. Currently the translator supports PDF, PPTX, DOCX, HTML, TXT formats.
- Translation takes only a few minutes and the employee does not need to know a foreign language. However, a follow-up check is recommended.
Translator availability
The interface of the DeepL translator in the Portal is intended for MU employees. Access to the tool is decided by faculty bursars or, in the case of non-faculty departments, directors. Therefore, access options for employees may differ.
Access to the translator can be verified by opening it in Portal – see picture (if you do not see the translator, it is not available to you).
Cost and financing of translations
Monthly costs are calculated according to the actual volumes of characters translated and invoiced to the independently managed units. The cost per translated file (50 000 characters or more) is approximately EUR 1.
