Planned outages of Medial and ELF systems in July and August
At the end of July and the beginning of August, regular maintenance of the systems will take place, which will require their shutdown and temporary unavailability.
For effective and clear teaching in ELF, it is important to ensure that students and teachers work in the required language environment. The language enforcement feature allows you to tailor language settings to individual courses or activities, which is crucial for courses taught in different languages.
Language enforcement is a feature that sets a fixed UI language for a specific course or activity. This means that students and instructors will use the course exclusively in the language of their choice, regardless of their individual account settings.
Language-specific courses: for courses taught in a foreign language where it is important that students also use the language in the ELF environment.
Standardization: To ensure a consistent environment, especially for courses with international participation.
User experience: Minimising confusion caused by different language interfaces.
How to set up language enforcement
In the course settings:
Open the course and go to the "Course Management" section and click on "Settings".
In the Appearance section, select the "Enforce Language" field and choose the desired language from the available list.
You can read more in our documentation (CZ only).
In the activity settings:
When creating or editing an activity, go to the settings in the Common Module Settings section.
In the "Force language" field, select the language to be used.

Language enforcement is a practical tool to ensure a consistent and clear environment in language specification courses. Proper setup not only facilitates learning, but also contributes to better organization and user experience.
If you have any questions about language enforcement, please do not hesitate to contact the FF MU e-Learning Office at elf@phil.muni.cz.
