For Teachers: How to Set up an Appointment in MS Teams Directly from the MU IS

Teachers can now create events for teaching in MS Teams directly in the Information System. The opportunity will be appreciated, especially by those teachers who do not need a permanent environment where students can chat but only need online lectures and exercises. They can do everything required directly in MU IS.

Please note that there are some restrictions on these meetings due to the way they are set up. For example:

  • it is not possible to change meeting settings
  • you cannot download attendance list
  • you cannot create "Breakout rooms"
  • when recording a video, it is limited to meeting participants only; other students do not have the option to view the recording
  • při nahrávání videa je omezení pouze na účastníky schůzky, ostatní studenti nemají možnost nahrávky přehrávat
  • appointments do not appear on the calendar in MS Teams
  • you have to send invitations (emails) by yourself

Therefore, we recommend that you first consider whether you will meet students within MS Teams teams or whether you do not need teams at all. Direct creation of events via the MU IS is advantageous, for example, for subjects where each lecture is given by a different expert (typical, for instance, at the Faculty of Law or Medicine.)

Colleagues from IS MU have prepared two instructional two instructional videos to show you where you can set up an appointment in the Information System and how to establish teams in MS Teams directly via IS MU.
