With regard to better security and control of document owners over the content, the default setting for sharing documents in Microsoft 365 tools was changed on Tuesday, May 2. The new default option is "People you choose", when you specify specific users or (including external) group to share a document or folder.
Changing the default document sharing settings is a definite step towards reducing the number of personal data breaches. However, if you're going to share in a different way, you can of course choose from the other options as well. But you do so deliberately - the intention is to avoid the hitherto common behavior of users using the first available sharing type "anyone with the link has permission to edit". In this way, anyone (even outside MU) can access the document, which can lead to complications without the user realizing the consequences.
This change will save not only "extra clicking", but above all it will help to ensure cyber security and information security at Masaryk University.
