Newsletter CIT 2/2025: Windows 11 desktop reinstallation, summer downtime and new CIT services

Due to Microsoft's ending support for Windows 10, we will be migrating faculty computers to Windows 11 across the board over the summer months. It is possible that some departments will be forced to purchase new devices that support Windows 11. See the attached article for more information about the planned process.

Due to renovations, classroom G24 will be unavailable during the summer. We are also planning to move the server room in Building G, which will cause the internet to be unavailable in that building during the move (we will keep you informed of the exact dates).

|
|
The ELF 3 archival installation will be decommissioned prior to the Fall 2025 semester. If you need to retain any older courses from this installation, please pay attention to the information provided in the documentation.

The e-Learning Office of CIT FF MU was awarded by the Rector of the university, for innovation and long-term improvement of the quality of teaching through the development and management of the Moodle user support interface (ELF) and other e-learning systems. The award ceremony took place during Dies academicus 2025.
|

|
|
We have opened applications for the next round of the Technology in Education Scholarship Program. If you would like support for your teaching using technology, you can apply for the programme.
|

|
|
|
We've added the ability to get an overview of course usage in ELF to our service offering. If you are interested in how active your students are in your course, how they are attending study materials, etc., email us and we will send you the usage reports.
|
|
|
|
|
Based on your suggestions, we have prepared templates to facilitate the creation of courses in the ELF system.
|
|
|
|
|
|
In May, we included Lenovo tablets in our loan offer. This complements our inventory of mobile devices for teaching, which until recently only included Apple iPads.
|
|
|
|
|
|
At another meeting dedicated to teaching gadgets, the participants got acquainted with, for example, the IS MU Advent Calendar application or the pronunciation training application.
|
|
|
|
|
|
The mobile telecommunication services price list went through changes at the beginning of this year. The current price list can be found in the service description.
|
|
|
|
|
|
In July and August there will be a shutdown of the Medial (from 21 July to the end of August) and ELF (21-25 July) systems for routine maintenance. Thank you for your understanding and we apologize for any complications.
