Dear colleagues,
I am honored to join the team of the Centre for Information Technology of the Faculty of Arts as a leader and to participate in the further development of our department. I have already had the opportunity to meet many of you in the last few months, but if you have not had the opportunity yet, let me briefly introduce myself to you in this way.
I have a lot of experience in information technology from both a contractor and internal administration perspective. In my career, I have mostly specialized in security in heterogeneous networks, wireless data transmission technologies and Microsoft server technologies. In my spare time, I like to focus on smart home control (sometimes the home is like a power plant, with wires peeking out of the wall everywhere, waiting to be plugged in) to increase the comfort and energy savings of ordinary living.
Working in a university environment is different for me in many ways to the commercial environment I have been in - whether it is the meeting of demands from academics, students and service departments, or the way funding is handled, or the working culture. In the Faculty of Arts, I look forward to working with my colleagues to further develop modern technology in the Faculty and to be a support for your work, teaching and learning.

There are no cameras in the classrooms of buildings K and L
Please note that the cameras in classrooms K and L are no longer available. These cameras were installed in the classrooms at the time of the covid-19 pandemic; currently, the technology is obsolete and we no longer support the operation of these cameras. Thank you for your understanding and we apologize for any complications.

Maps are not just a travel aid. They also provide us with useful data for researching the relationships between space, time and human activity. In the human sciences, they are an important tool in literary studies, history and linguistics. Take a closer look at the uses of so-called geospatial data and the tools you can use to explore them.

With this feature, you can preset the language of a course to ensure that the student will navigate through the course in the desired language. CIT History: Faculty websites
30 years ago, the faculty launched its first website. It was a very simple site containing basic information about the departments and contacts. It was only in 2001 that a new conceptual solution was developed - the website has since then been more extensive, containing information about the admission procedure, important documents, details about scholarships and much more. Five years later we started to run the faculty website in the Plone editorial system, but we will discuss this in more detail in some of the future issues of the newsletter.
